We all have an ultimate goal: to reach to the top. To be the best at what we do. To be successful. How can we show for it?
Is it fast cars, designer clothes, and massive homes? Or is it freedom, health, happiness, and fulfillment?
As I started to indulge in this endeavor, reading and listening to others’ success stories, I’ve realized that success is not about a set destination but a continuous journey. I’ll admit that I am guilty of chasing plans that I thought were ideal, only to abandon them when challenges arose or new opportunities seemed better. Sometimes you need to persevere to genuinely see if a path is worthwhile, and sometimes you need to let go. The key is learning from both.
When hearing the question “What was the career plan?” it’s hard to formulate a definitive answer and that's okay. It’s good to acknowledge that you might not exactly know what you want to do with your life and education.
People who make it to the top typically don’t set out to be a CEO, CFO, CTO, etc. There is a gradual progression in their career that warrants them the privilege to lead a company from a C-suite. A role that is earned from persistence, curiosity, and, humility.
With this newsletter, I hope that you can read about shared Lehigh alumni stories from various career paths. Furthermore, these articles should provide insight that sometimes there is no precise plan to be successful.
Sometimes it can be as simple as grabbing a quick bite with someone new that could change the trajectory of your career.
Take a chance—your next conversation could redefine your path.
Cheers🥂
